Announcing the SugarUNCon

bsoremsugar —  February 22, 2011 — 6 Comments

For the first time ever, we are very excited to announce that will be holding an “uncon” alongside the main SugarCon conference in April. SugarUNCon will be an opportunity to have all of our internal technical team members at Sugar available for all of our partner and community developers to help them with customization, development questions, and to solict feedback on developing on the Sugar platform.

For those not familiar with the concept of an uncon, let me give you a little background. I go to a lot of conferences every year ( just ask my wife :-) ), and one of my favorite part of conferences is what is referred to as the “hallway track”. What this is is the time where attendees and speakers interact with one another; this is where experiences are shared, issue they encountering are discussed, and new ideas are created. The idea of an uncon is to capture that “hallway track” spirit of attendee driven topics and build a conference program around it. Everything in the uncon is driven by you, the attendee; tell us what you want to learn about, what issues you are running into, and what ideas you have, and we’ll be there to help you out.

SugarUNCon will run alongside the normal tracks at SugarCon on April 5 and 6. The format will be more of a “Genius Bar” approach, where users can bring questions they may have to room to have our techincal experts help them, as well as their peers in the community at large. We will have whiteboards and projectors available as well to enable group discussion and presentations.

As with any unconference, what makes it’s a success is you. So to be a part of making this event a success you should…

  • Sign up for SugarCon if you haven’t already, the early bird discount price ( a savings of $100 ) ends February 28th.
  • Post comments to this blog post, add comments to this forums thread, or DM us on Twitter with topics you’d love to see at the uncon. If you bring the ideas, we’ll make sure to have the experts there to help you out.
  • Stop by the uncon room at Sugar see us

We are really excited to have an uncon and look forward to everyone in the partner and community developer community participating. I’ll post more details of the event in the upcoming weeks.
