How do I move my global menu item over to Sugar 7?

I came across a great blog post by the gang over at SugarOutfitters on making a global menu entry in Sugar 7, which make me think “how can we transition from how you used to do it to how you do it now?”. Looking back at an earlier article on this, we saw to add an item to this menu with ease by¬†adding them to the custom/include/globalControlLinks.php like shown below…

Doing this is a bit different in Sugar 7, as the default rendering engine uses Sidecar. Now, you would need to copy the clients/base/views/profileactions/profileactions.hbt to the custom/clients/base/views/profileactions/profileactions.hbt and then add the entry to the markup as shown below.
