We took a brief break from php|tek on Thursday of last week to head downtown Chicago ( and thru all of the traffic on the way ) to attend the first meeting of the Chicago SugarCRM Users Group, hosted by SugarCRM Gold Partner Highland Solutions.
I must say the we were all impressed with the turnout for the first meeting, with a healthy mix of people looking to build on the Sugar platform, people implementing/administering SugarCRM instances, as well as end users. I think as engineers this give us some good perspective on the product as a whole, letting us know which areas are more problematic and could use some attention, as well as those that have made a significant impact on their workflows and productivity. We have lot’s of takeaways from this meetup which we will bring back and look on how to improve the product in the future. And we hope everyone who attended got some insight into how we develop the product and what the future holds for SugarCRM.
I want to extend a big thanks to Jon Berbaum from Highland Solutions, who organized the event and coordinated having us attend and host the “Ask the Experts” panel. We would definitely love to attend the meetup group again next time we are in the area.
