HOWTO: Bring back the Dashboard module from 5.5

sugarcrmdevelopers —  July 13, 2011 — 9 Comments

For many Sugar CE users, the Dashboard module was a nice feature that gave you a bit more space to add Dashlets than can normally fit on the Home page ( Pro, Corporate, Enterprise, and Ultimate Edition users don’t have this limitation, as they can add many pages under the Home page to house dashlets ). Theres been a few users wanting to know how to bring this functionality back into Sugar 6 and later. Fortunately, it’s very simple thanks to the instructions provided by forums poster jacklagunabeach. Here’s how to do it:

    1. Grab the source code from SugarCRM 5.5.4
    2. Add a file in the custom/Extension/application/Ext/Include/ directory named dashboardFrom554.php with the file contents show below. This will register the Dashboard module with the SugarCRM instance.
<?php
$moduleList[] = 'Dashboard';
$beanList['Dashboard'] = 'Dashboard';
$beanFiles['Dashboard'] = 'modules/Dashboard/Dashboard.php';
  1. Run Admin > Repair > Quick Rebuild and Repair to enable the Dashboard module
  2. Go to Admin > Display Module Tabs and Subpanels and move the Dashboard module to the ‘Displayed Tabs’ column.

With that you will have the Dashboard module back available to use.

    Please – do rephrase Line 2 also for me : It does not make sense

    Thanks for the feedback; I’ve reworded (2) for more clarity.

    I’ve tried this in SugarCRM version 6.2.1 and it doesn’t work. The dashlets are all added to the home page on a reload instead of to the Dashboard. Any chance we could have the Dashboard back in 6.2.2? 🙂

      No plans to bring this back into the product. That said, if you can figure out what the changes needing made are to make the Dashboard module work please let us know. Thanks!

    On a clean install of 6.2.1 there is no directory for custom/Extension/application/Ext/Include/ to place the dashboardfrom554.php into.  Anyone have any suggestions on where this file should be placed in version 6.2.1?

  6.

    Does not work for me. “Dashboard” appears in “Admin > Display Module Tabs and Subpanels” but the link does not shows up in the menu
