What’s new in Sugar 6.3: Options to handle lead activities during lead conversion

sugarcrmdevelopers —  November 16, 2011 — 8 Comments

Before SugarCRM 6.3, all lead activities (tasks, meetings, calls, notes, emails) are copied to selected module records during conversion. We realized that this sometimes isn’t the best option for some circumstances, so in 6.3 we’ve added the ability for admins have the choice of how lead activities are handled during a Lead conversion.

This is controllable thru the UI in the  Admin -> System Settings -> User Interface section -> Lead Conversion Options screen, or by changing the  ‘lead_conv_activity_opt’ value in config.php. There are three possible values for ‘lead_conv_activity_opt’: ‘donothing’, ‘move’ and ‘copy’. If you are newly installing Sugar, the default value for a is ‘nonothing’, while for those upgrading from 6.1 or 6.2 the default value is ‘copy’ ( which matches the default behavior in those versions ).

Here is a description of the options and what the behavior is if you select them:

Do Nothing ( config.php key ‘donothing’ ): no lead activities will be changed during lead conversion.

Copy ( config.php key ‘copy’ ) : A new multi-select element will be shown at the bottom of the lead conversion page. The entries of the element is dynamically constructed when user selects or de-selects the modules above it. User can select which modules they want the activities to be copied to during conversion.

Move ( config.php key ‘move’ ): A new drop-down element will be shown at the bottom of the lead conversion page. The entries of the element is dynamically constructed when user selects or de-selects the modules above it. User can select which module they want the activities to be moved to during conversion. Only one module can be selected at one time.

  1.

How would I go about adding an option to convert to Opportunities as well?

  2.

Can we select a default module to be copied/moved to ?

It would be the one you are converting the record to ( Account/Contact )

Fast answer! Yes but by default it’s -none-. I would like to select by default “contact”. Or just remove the -none- option because nothing is moved (or copied). Thanks!

Sounds like a good bug. Please report it at http://bugs.sugarcrm.com

I find my way around for have contacts as default when I move activities.
          1- Copy modules/Leads/views/view.convertlead.php in custom/modules/Leads/views/view.convertlead.php
          2- Modify the custom file
          Line 178
          $smarty->assign(‘convertModuleListOptions’, get_select_options_with_id(array(‘None’=>$app_strings[‘LBL_NONE’], ‘Contacts’ => $app_list_strings[“moduleListSingular”][‘Contacts’]), ”));

Maybe if you want to had an other module you can just add it to the array.
