Create new records in the popup selector

I came across the question last week in the forums on how to create the ability to create records inside the popup selector, just like in the image below…

Thanks to the quick work of Sugar Community Member and co-founder of SugarOutfitters Jason Eggers, he pointed out a quick solution to this by adding the ‘create’ key to $popupMeta array as shown below:

    The problem here is when the module lacks a FormBase.php – such as custom modules. I hacked my way through it by copying the accounts module formbase and making modifications, but it wasn’t pretty. Could anyone explain why a FormBase.php is even needed?

      We use the interface of the FormBase on the backend to know what to call. Basically, it’s a bit of legacy code in here.

      Open to a new suggestion on how to handle this.

    a though explanation on how to create new Forms for custom modules would be extremely helpful to very many… thank you in advance.
