New in Sugar 6.5.3, mixing tabs and panels in DetailViews and EditViews

sugarcrmdevelopers —  October 9, 2012 — 3 Comments

Back in Sugar 6.0 we added the ability to layout EditViews and DetailViews with tabs instead of panels, which you could control right from Studio.

We had lots of feedback on this, namely if there was an ability to mix tabs and panels in a layout. Namely, could there be multiple panels in a tab? With Sugar 6.5.3 this is now fixed, so you’ll notice this change in Studio to indicate for each panel if it specifies a new tab or not.

You’ll also notice that if the ‘Panel’ option is selected, you can also elect to have the panel collasped by default, further saving screen real estate for fields not commonly used but still good to have around.

Let us know in the comments what you think about this change, and if it helps some of the problems from before with EditView and DetailView layouts.

  1.

    How can we hide a tab when a check box is unchecked.

      I don’t think you can do quite do that currently, but Pro versions have Sugar Logic Formulas, which allow you to hide one or more individual fields based on a checkbox. Otherwise you’ll need some custom JavaScript on the page.

    Simple Digital Clock Code in Javascript

    function startTime()

    {

    var today=new Date();

    var h=today.getHours();

    var m=today.getMinutes();

    var s=today.getSeconds();

    // add a zero in front of numbers<10

    m=checkTime(m);

    s=checkTime(s);

    document.getElementById('txt').innerHTML=h+":"+m+":"+s;

    t=setTimeout('startTime()',500);

    }

    function checkTime(i)

    {

    if (i<10)

    {

    i="0"
    + i;

    }

    return i;

    }
